If you've ever been hungover in L.A.(and let's face it, we all have numerous times), this book is your life line to the bloody mary fountain of youth. Be whole again!
Best bloody bloody mary book period.
Never before have I read such an in depth guide covering such a wide range of bloody mary's. Shelley takes her mary's seriously and it shows. I hope her future journey's take her across the country and she writes a book reviewing some of the best bloody mary's in America. I'd love to see what my home state of Texas has to offer!
Shelley Buchanan does a great job in her survey of LA area bloody mary joints. With vivid pictures and succinct reviews, she breaks down each tomato-y cocktail and lets you know where to go, no matter where you are, be it Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Downtown, the San Gabriel Valley, Long Beach, or Orange County; no matter what you are looking for, be it a simple classic bloody, a bold re-imagining, or somewhere to build your own concoction. Do not bounce around blindly looking for a great bloody and coming up short, let The Drunken Tomato guide you to a bloody good bloody mary!
Picked up this book off of the Kickstarter launch and it's awesome! I had no idea there was so much creativity in the bloody mary scene, but this book does an amazing job highlighting all the different varieties and goes into just enough detail as to why you should visit that particular location. Wonderful, big, full-color pictures. Even better, every place that I have visited not only had a great bloody mary, but the location itself was a lot of fun and always a place I would revisit. Even if you aren't a huge bloody mary fan this book is worth it to find a bunch of great places to check out.
It also works great as a coffee table/conversation starter book. Guests are always asking about it and flipping through, commenting on the different variations, especially the crazy ones. Bloody mary with a hamburger in it? Yup, that's in there. It's ridiculous.
If you're looking for a guide to bloody marys, cool places in LA, or just to have something unique and funky on your coffee table, get this book!
I ordered this book right after watching the show "Diners Drive Inns and Dives. I thought I was getting a lot of recipes of all the famous Bloody Mary's. Instead, it was just a list of places to order the best bloody Mary's. Soo dissapointed.
I thought there would b alot mo recipes for bloodymaries than history of it in different places............i guess idk gee
